Ultrasound & Doppler Scans

Safe, painless, and accurate imaging for organs, tissues, pregnancy, and blood vessels
At IMAGES Diagnostic Center in Kuwait, we provide advanced ultrasound and Doppler imaging for accurate, non-invasive diagnosis. Ultrasonography uses high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of the body’s organs, tissues, and blood vessels. It is safe, painless, and free from radiation. Our services include standard ultrasound, vascular Doppler scans, and advanced 3D & 4D ultrasound for pregnancy and specialized diagnostics.

Before

  • No radiation — safe for adults, children, and pregnant women.
  • Some exams may require fasting (e.g., abdominal scans).
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may be asked to change into a gown.
  • For pelvic or obstetric scans, a full bladder may be required — drink water before your appointment.

During

  • You will lie comfortably on an exam bed.
  • A clear gel is applied to the skin to help transmit sound waves.
  • A hand-held probe (transducer) is moved over the area to capture images.
  • For Doppler scans, the radiologist may listen to blood flow sounds as vessels are evaluated.
  • Most scans take 15–30 minutes.

After

  • You can resume normal activities immediately.
  • Images are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist.
  • A detailed report is sent to your doctor within 1 hour, and results are also available in our patient app.

FAQs
What is an Ultrasound Scan?

Ultrasound is a safe imaging test that uses sound waves to produce real-time images of internal organs, tissues, blood vessels, or a developing baby.

Doppler ultrasound evaluates blood flow in arteries and veins, helping detect blockages, narrowing, or circulatory problems.

  • 2D Ultrasound provides standard flat images.

  • 3D Ultrasound shows more detailed, lifelike images of internal structures or a baby’s features.

  • 4D Ultrasound adds real-time movement, allowing parents to see the baby’s face and movements during pregnancy.

Prices vary depending on the type of scan (general, Doppler, 3D/4D). At IMAGES, ultrasound scans start from 35 KWD. Contact us for an exact quote and insurance coverage.

An ultrasound is the test itself — it uses sound waves to create images of your body’s organs, tissues, or blood vessels. A sonogram is the actual picture or result produced by the ultrasound. In short, ultrasound is the process, and sonogram is the image.

Some scans require referrals, but many can be booked directly. Contact our Jabriya, Salmiya, or Hawally centers for guidance.

In most cases, an ectopic pregnancy can be detected with ultrasound, especially when combined with blood tests (such as measuring hCG levels). However, in very early stages, it may be too small to see clearly, so follow-up scans or additional tests may be needed. That’s why it’s important to seek prompt medical care if you have symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, bleeding, or dizziness.

We work with most Kuwaiti and international insurers. Verify coverage with our billing team before visiting our Jabriya, Salmiya, or Hawally locations.

All centers offer free, accessible parking with dedicated spaces for patients with mobility needs.
